Didn’t fish the Susqy Flats last year……missed fishing there for sure! After a quick decision I Ran back up there tuesday night, slept in the boat and did a short notice Walk-On Wednsday. Turned out to be a great light tackle day with many, many fish caught with some over 30″. Nothing huge but certainly a blast on light tackle. On day two the fishing was difficult but still not horrible and the evening trip turned out pretty darn good! Day three and four however weren’t good and folks who know me know my patience isn’t all that wonderful when fish aren’t currently present……..so…….I departed the flats as quick as I decided to go there. I know the fish will be there again if not today but I just can’t wait while folks on my boat aren’t catching. Fished at the flats for four days…..caught well for two….struggled for two and departed. We did catch some great Largemouth bass when not catching Stripers though……
On Thursday evening we did hit some decent fish and another Big Largemouth
A nice evening shallow water Susqy Striper!
Pulled the boat from Havre De Grace back to solomons Saturday……launched from Solomons boat ramp on Sunday morning at 0530 with a great crew willing and able to give the islands of the eastern shore for the first time this year. We started out on the western shore on structure and landed a beautiful Striper……Todd hit this beauty on a 10″ BKD.
We ran well south and east into the islands and caught quite well! Way to many fish to count from 17-23″ on light tackle and in shallow beautiful water. A sight to behold for sure! Even saw a fox today who was out and about enjoying a great spring day.
My take on the fishing is right now it’s good with the light sticks and it’s only going to get better with the warming waters. Looking forward to this skinny water fishery and am hoping the Specks make a showing as a bonus!
