I‘ve fished the flats now for the last 14 years, this will be the 15th! Basically been on the water every fishable day in the month of April till May 3 for 14 years at the Susqy Flats. Don’t have the exact numbers but what I do know is I’ve spent many days on the water at the flats over the last 14 years. Learned much myself and learned alot from the “king” of the flats, Mike Benjamin. I still don’t know it all…never will! Seems like the more I’m on a piece of water the more I realize I don’t know. What a day today was….started late due to wind, not a bad thing. Fish did not immediately start hitting but the birds showed the way at the bridge. Got into some great fish on bridge pilings north of the Second island then gannets near the 4th island. For several hours we caught consistantly all on 6 and 10″ BKD’s….beautiful stuff. Most fish were 30-38″. Rough morning, beautiful afternoon fish all day….life is good!!!!!
Folks, after last nights quick scout trip I thought maybe today would be good…..man was that an understatement! From the time we got out there till the time we all said “no mas” we caught and released way over 50 really big fish….biggest measured at 45″.
